Prelim Results and PSLE Score

PRELIM RESULT AND PSLE SCORE

IS ONE INDICATIVE OF THE OTHER?

Conventional wisdom dictates that prelims are a good preparation for the PSLE. Prelims serve as a general gauge towards the PSLE. They are a stepping stone where mistakes are made and lessons can be learnt before the PSLE.

Learning flaws

Not surprisingly, prelims are sometimes designed to be much tougher than the actual PSLE. It helps to find out how closely related are the prelim result and the actual PSLE result. If the prelims are close to the standard of the actual PSLE and a student does badly in the prelims, it is best to find out what the student’s weaknesses are and have them rectified.

Not be all and end all

Realistically, prelims are useful but they don’t tell you everything. Even if a child does well in prelims, he might perform poorly in the PSLE. The key is to view the prelims as the last examination before the PSLE and to have an adequate plan till the actual PSLE. Consistency from the prelims to the PSLE is essential.
